In the his college days, Cartoonist Berkeley Breathed, of "Bloom County" fame, bet a friend, that he could create a hoax and get it on the wire services.
He hoaxed that Lake Travis was infested with alligators dumped there by college students when they left town, and he was so successful enough that Breathed was arrested TWICE for possession of alligators.
The narrative about "framing" misses a crucial portion of the narrative, specifically mythology, as a part of successful politics.
Myth is a powerful thing. So every new employee in the New York subway system is told not to piss on the 3rd rail, even though it's false (I love Mythbusters).
The Republican party runs on myth, which is different from lies.
They have a mythical perfect 1950s, and a 1960s that resembles hell, and the greatest recession in 70 years is the "Reagan Prosperity."
To some degree mythology has been behind every major movement.
So, I ask you, what are our myths? What is our idealized past, or the infamous past of Republicans?
The human psyche demands myth, and we as Democrats are not supplying this.
